We're seeking a Story Lead to join our Amsterdam team with strong writing skills, game development expertise, and exceptional creative leadership. This role involves working on an ambitious narrative driven VR game based on a globally renowned IP. The focus of the role is to create an outstanding story and advocate for its integration across all disciplines within the development team. • Manage the status and accuracy of story assets, including scripts, character bios, world-building, and narrative arcs.
  • Own casting and planning of recording sessions to ensure top talent and budget efficiency.
  • Coordinate cross-discipline alignment for the planning and execution of performance/motion capture and voice action recordings.
  • Lead an internal team of narrative designers, responsible for designing and implementing story assets in the game engine.
  • Champion the story's implementation, driving collaboration across animation, game/artistic direction, and production.
Your profile
  • Proven writing ability, from high level story shaping to screenplay and dialogue. Both solo and in collaboration with external writers and within IP lore.
  • Experienced in planning for and executing performance capture/voice recording, and is comfortable in offering feedback to actors.
  • Strong English communication and organizational skills tested by working across discipline in a team of 50+ people.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in a leadership role on a successful narrative driven console action-adventure title.
Bonus points for
  • Hands on knowledge of implementing story content in the Unreal Engine – familiarity with managing animation and audio data and hooking it up using the sequencer and blueprints.
  • Good understanding of the challenges and opportunities of writing for VR.
We offer
  • A company culture that values a healthy work-life balance.
  • A hybrid working model with two office days per week.
  • 30% Income tax reduction for eligible expats.
  • Relocation cost compensation depending on your situation.
  • 26 standard vacation days with an option to buy 5 more.
  • Free train commuting to and from the office.
  • Free pension plan.
  • A healthy lunch in our canteen.
  • Group activities and an annual VR game jam.
  • Thursday afternoon drinks.
  • The latest VR hardware and titles which you can borrow and take home.
  • Whilst working from home we provide all the relevant hardware, budget for a desk and chair and a contribution toward your energy costs.
